Vision & goal

Our world is in transition to a new energy efficient, low carbon economy.

Making a net zero future
a reality

Our vision is of a just transition that mitigates climate change by reducing net carbon dioxide emissions to zero while North Northamptonshire economy grows stronger for the benefit of residents and businesses.

The challenge for many people, businesses and organisations is understanding what actions they can take and how to get started.

Our immediate goal with NN2NZ is to create a programme of actions, projects and support structures that can make the vision of a net zero future a reality.

NN2NZ will then seek to maintain and evolve that programme as new challenges, solutions and opportunities emerge during the transition to net zero.

Transition to a zero-carbon economy

A just transition to a zero-carbon world is possible but it is inevitably complex and challenges society as a whole to engage and take action.

North Northamptonshire to Net Zero is seeking to complement the growing array of policies and actions that Government, Local Authorities, other public sector organisation, businesses and individuals are all making by focusing on the local actions and initiatives in the areas of Energy, Buildings and Transport that North Northamptonshire can implement.

By identifying and assessing projects that can make a difference, by helping to find and secure the funding need to deliver them and by informing individuals, business and organisations about what is possible and what they can do, NN2NZ aims to support a just and accelerating transition to a net zero-carbon economy.

What stage are we at now?

NN2NZ is gathering information on existing or emerging projects that could have a positive impact on achieving net zero and we are working with partners [link to Partner page] to both assess the potential for impact, the feasibility for delivery and a programme for support that delivery.

We are also exploring how we can ensure the widest possible engagement and participation in the range of projects that emerge and how ongoing support can be maintained during the next crucial years of transition.

At the end of 2022 a report will be published on our findings together with our recommendations for how North Northamptonshire can best ensure positive action is delivered.
