Our approach

Supporting organisations places and people transition to Net-zero

Energy

We set up energy communities, and advise developers, councils and organisation on energy efficiency programmes and new renewable and energy balancing technologies to reach net zero carbon in the shortest time.
We partner with cleantech firms and academic institutions to research and develop innovative new software and hardware solutions to energy problems, such as making full use of renewable energy generated locally, reducing demand to keep within grid constraints, and balancing demand with generation, through astute use of battery, water and ground source energy systems via world leading forecasting, modelling, machine learning, artificial intelligence and block chain technologies, to deliver zero energy bill homes.
We project manage real-life trials and pilots on behalf of the UK and EU governments to deliver meaningful results for a better clean energy future for communities across the region.

Transport

We advise councils on EV charge-point infrastructure and strategic planning for electrification of their fleets. We have developed models for community car clubs and e-mobility as a shared service hubs.
We work with cleantech firms on testing and developing new technologies using our infrastructure as test resources. We have installed electric vehicles charge point infrastructure in existing neighbourhoods and new housing developments.
We advise developers on planning and implementing EV charging infrastructure within grid constrained areas.
We work with universities on developing and testing advanced grid services at the micro community level using artificial intelligence and machine learning to forecast and optimize EV charging within local grid constraints and site capacity demands.
We have established local Electric Vehicle Charging Networks and uses the data from our network to support research and development into new technologies and innovations which may help improve energy poverty, efficiency and the move towards zero carbon for the communities it serves.

Frequently Asked Questions

NN2NZ is a government funded project created to help North Northamptonshire achieve net zero carbon ahead of 2050 targets .Electric Places (previously known as Electric Corby Community Interest Company) is performing an analysis of ongoing and planned community-led low carbon energy, housing and transport projects in the area. Creating a programme of low carbon project options for the area that will help plan a route to net zero for the region and potentially lead to future investment in sustainability across North Northamptonshire.

We will work with our project partners to assess the idea’s feasibility. As we’re doing this, we may contact you to find out a bit more about your low carbon project idea and determine how it might be implemented in North Northamptonshire.

Ideas that are ranked highly based on CO2 savings potential, economic benefits for North Northamptonshire and scalability will be shared with North Northamptonshire Council. The intent is to create a portfolio of promising carbon saving project ideas that can then be used to secure government funding or private investment to make them happen.

A CIC based in Corby Northamptonshire leading the NN2NZ project. Specialist CIC testing new forms of carbon saving technology and securing funding for low carbon sustainability projects.

The NN2NZ project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund. The  UK Community Renewal Fund  is a UK Government programme for 2021/22. This aims to support people and communities most in need across the UK to pilot programmes and new approaches to prepare for the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. It invests in skills, community and place, local business, and supporting people into employment. For more information, visit The Community Renewal Fund Website
